In a previous post, I set out my criteria for what I look for in a bar.
Calico Jacks was a little unique.
The bar was very easily accessible, which is a good thing. But this is also at 6pm. I didn't have to push through a swarm of confused people drunk-ish people. I managed to just pop down and grab a seat at the bar, which is always a nice thing. It was a little empty (but maybe that's my problem going to a bar at 6pm on a Thursday). I would give a score of 7 for this
Prices. Great. If you plan on going to a bar with a group of people and you plan on staying at the bar for a couple hours, the prices are perfect. Open bar for $30 for 4 hours. You're paying $7.50 an hour for as many drinks as you can handle responsibly. Most mixed drinks cost $7.50. It's a real steal. The food is also really fairly priced. I would give this a score of 8. It's nice to have the unlimited aspect but if your intent is only to drink a couple drinks, then maybe this isn't the best deal for you.
Bathrooms. Cozy. I didn't have to make any new friends though, so that's a plus. They did have that guy in the bathroom that hands you a paper towel every time you wash your hands, which eventually adds up in guilt. But maybe that's just me. Other than that, no complaints and no waits. Definitely a score of 7
Drunk and Disorderly. Upon arrival, everyone seemed to be sober and fairly orderly. By 10-ish, things got a little twisted. The bar had filled up a good amount and people were having a good time. Nobody was belligerent or unruly. People were just generally friendly and having a good time. Except for scooter lady. She was pretty disappointing. Other than that, I would say it was a quality 7
Bartenders. Loved them. Our bartender was a young, cute, 20 something year-old that was far too nice for how annoying we were. In general, I'm not an individual that loves making choices. I like to go with the flow and see where the wind will take me. Even more so when I'm drinking. At a certain point, I just don't have the willpower to decide what I want to drink. I love when a bartender is okay with me saying "surprise me." Valerie went above and beyond and and was nice the whole way through. That being said, loved the bartenders. A definite 9 from me.
Peoples: 7.5
Prices: 8
Bathrooms: 7
Drunk and Disorderly: 7
Bartenders: 9
Calico Jack scored a 77%
That's a perfect score for Good Time On A Dime
I would recommend visiting this bar if you have a group of friends that just want to sit and drunk and eat. The food was actually incredible and is perfect if you want to go to a Sunday style brunch at 6pm on a Thursday.
Unfortunately, this coming week's post is going to be a little delayed due to an injury I received this past weekend.
I've included a little gif of my right ankle quitting on me during a rugby tournament. Hopefully the healing process speeeds up so I can get back on my feet.
Stay Posted
Yours Drunkly,
Alex
